Mother's day and Antique Jewelry - Post 14

The ultimate personal gift for Mother's Day - antique jewelry. (See last week).

#7472 Treat your Mum like the goddess she is.

After Christmas, Mother's Day is the most celebrated national day in the USA. Not restricted to a specific religion, almost every human being has cause to pause and think about the woman who brought them into this world, hopefully still alive today. Think about the woman who brought your children into this world. There are many variations, but we all have reason to be grateful to these special ladies.

Jewelry and Mother's Day are almost synonymous. When we want to show appreciation for someone we love, there is no better
way than with a fine jewel, in particular an antique jewel that expresses time, caring and quality so well.
An antique jewel is by definition unique. That means it has to be searched for, and carefully chosen, making it so much
more appropriate than a mass-produced object of pure consumerism.  I've had a number of customers who told me why they
wanted a particular item for their Mom and I have sat at my desk and cried at the genuine caring and emotion that went
into buying these objects.

#6788 Fannière Frères Antique Brooch

A jewel as a gift for Mother's Day will last forever. It forms a chain that links the generations. Hopefully passed down
from mother to daughter, it becomes a symbol of the eternal bond within families, the ties between those who are and those
who have been. Once again, the beauty of the sentiment surpasses any commercial aspect of the holiday and reminds me how a
thing of such beauty can help us transcend the purely material and why I love antique jewelry.

#6892 Froment-Meurice brooch
See your mother as a saintly being, just like this brooch with St. Cecilia and the musicians.
