Antique Victorian Etruscan Revival bangle bracelet. 14k gold. Made circa 1870-80's, most likely in Great Britain.

Measurements: Weight is 13.8 grams. 2 3/8 inches (6cm) across. Fits wrist of approximately 6 1/4 inches circumference.

Description : Crossover gold bangle. Gold tubular form with ends crossing over on the top part of the wrist. Overlapping and intertwining snake wraps the two sides with globes at either end. Snake head on one end and tail resting on the other globe.
Globes entirely adorned with gold filigree, typical of Etruscan Revival jewelry in emulation of the ancient Roman civilisation. The snake theme goes even further back to the Ancient Egyptians and was popularly represented in Ancient Greek and Roman art. Body of the snake is textured to represent scales and for greater interest. Face details include red eyes - stones too small to test.
Hinge on one side. Tongue in groove clasp. Very secure with additional gold chain for added security.
Very well made and attractive bangle / bracelet. Versatile to wear with any outfit and suitable for any age.

Marks and Metal: No marks, as is to be expected. Gold was electronically tested to ensure metal purity.

Condition: Minor dings commensurate with age and use. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
