Antique / vintage ring. 18k gold, sapphires, rubies and pearls. Made in India. It is impossible to establish the exact age of this ring. We were told it was at least 150 years old, but we will say 50-100 years to err on the side of caution. Unisex - suitable for a man or a woman. Independent appraisal.
Measurements: Weight is 8.2grams. US size 3. Colored stones .92ct.
Description : Fine Indian craftsmanship at it's best. The ring combines both the delicacy of the openwork gold granulation and the finest kundan gemsetting.
The band is wide and composed of openwork flowers in semi-circles and borders of minute architectural pillars. The shank has a co-joined round disk and triangle, both outlined in pearls with gold cells containing cabochon emeralds, rubies and sapphires. Like much Indian jewelry, there is a mixture of red, purple and green gems. (2 green, 2 purple sapphires and 4 rubies). Pearls are white with good luster and well matched.
Also common to much old Indian jewelry, there are tiny loops at the points of the triangle. These have a decorative function - look pretty between the pearls and also allow another gem/pearl to be connected and hence dangle from the finger - not currently in use.
Design is lacy and light and seems to transcend the everyday.
A very beautiful and special ring.
Marks and Metal: No marks. Electronically tested as very high gold. We guarrantee the more conservative 18k.
Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
Independent appraisal (value $7500.00) available to new owner.
