Antique Victorian Napoleon III ring. 18k yellow gold, 950 platinum, rose-cut diamonds. Made in France, 19th century - circa 1870-1890. Suitable for a man or a woman.

Measurements: Weight is 3.0 grams. US ring size 5 1/2. 0.68ct diamonds. Length of navette is 1.6cm.

Description : A small navette (boat) shaped ring - like an oval with a wide center and pointed ends. The entire surface is pave set with round, rose-cut diamonds. The quality of the diamonds is surprisingly good for this period and while small, the ring has a wonderful glitter and shine. The diamonds are set in platinum, as was the custom towards the end of the 19th century. This placed over a gold openwork gallery that raises the ring above the level of the finger. It also leads seamlessly to the simple gold shank. A lovely and highly wearable, versatile ring that can be enjoyed by a lady or a gentleman.

Marks and Metal: Outside of shank with 'masked man' and owl - French hallmarks for 950 platinum and 18k gold, respectively.

Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer. Independent, professional appraisal (with value of $4500.-)
