Antique Victorian Art Nouveau Earrings Ear Pendants. 14k yellow gold, pearls, diamonds and demantoid garnets. Made circa 1900. Origin either the United Kingdom or United States. Measurements: Weight is 5.7 grams (combined). Length a tad under 1 3/4 inches (4.5cm). Description : Long, fun earrings or ear pendants. The topmost pearls (about 5mm in diameter) lead to a fine line of tiny gold loops, another pearl and finally a pair of 'leaves', diamond and demantoid garnet in gold colette setting. Here, loops fork out to form a pear-shaped drop. composed of smaller and larger pearls, diamonds and demantoid garnets in the form of the same foliage of diamond-demantoid combination. Despite delicate appearance, the backs are very solid gold - from the shell-shaped back of the upper pearl to the sturdy horse-shoe shape supporting the lower 'foliage'. The small gold loops allow for flexibility and movement, which is continuous with the wearer's slightest movement. Long gold wires are easy to insert and comfortable to wear. Like many 'older' wires of this sort, they have little bubbles of gold at the end which help to secure the earrings. Marks and Metal: No marks, typical of jewelry of this period from these countries. Gold was acid tested to ensure metal purity. Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
