Antique Victorian Earrings 18k Gold Rose Cut Diamonds Pearls Silver (6528)

Antique Victorian Napoleon III earrings or ear clips. 18k yellow gold, rose cut diamonds, natural pearls and a small amount of silver. Made in France circa 1880.

 

Measurements: Not including the little drops, the earrings are 1 inch (2.5cm) long. Combined weight is 11.6 grams.  

 

Description : Earrings in the form of domed ovals. The outer gold border is exquisitely engraved with bright cut engraving of a fine quality. A concentric band of gold modelled as overlapping, sculptural stylised flowers encloses an inner circle at the apex of the dome which consists of a border of tiny fine natural pearls and within a high silver mount holding a rose cut diamond.

 

Tiny loops suspend little gold globules that swing and add to the interest of the earrings. Beautiful workmanship. Very classic earrings that can be worn by women of any age and to suit any occasion.

 

It is unknown what sort of findings are original to the earrings, but we assume the omega clips are replacements.

 

Marks: Owl mark for 18k gold of unknown origin in France.
