Antique early Victorian snake ring. 15ct gold, silver, diamonds and rubies. Made in the United Kingdom, circa 1840-50's. Unisex - can be worn by a man or a woman. Has independent appraisal.

Measurements: Weight is 5.3 grams. US size 7 1/2 - 7 3/4 (UK size Q). Rose cut diamonds weigh approximately .59ct.

Description : Triple coiling snake. Cylindrical gold body winds around the finger with both head and tail curving around the top of the finger. Both head and tail of the snake are pave-set with rose-cut diamonds in silver, which was usually the metal used to set diamonds in order to show them off to best effect from Georgian times to the mid 20th century. Eyes are round-cut rubies. Very well made ring. Great design - highly attractive on the finger. Can be worn by a man or a woman. Snakes were a symbol of eternity - either eternal love or eternal life. After Prince Albert gave Queen Victoria a snake ring as an engagement ring, serpent rings and other snake jewelry became even more popular.

Marks and Metal: No marks. Gold was acid tested to ensure metal purity.

Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer. Independent appraisal available to new owner upon request.
