Antique Victorian earrings ear pendants. 15ct gold, platinum, amethysts, diamonds. Made in England, United Kingdom. Circa 1880.

Measurements: Weight is 9.8 grams. 1 5/8 inches (4cm) long, not including the wires. Amethysts approximately 17mm X 12mm.

Description : Heart-shaped surmounts with golden granulation and scrolls linked to a branching mount of golden foliage, widening to enclose the oval-shaped, faceted, central amethyst. Cardinal points with rose-cut diamond accents set in platinum. Openwork gold foliage, coiling and scrolling, punctuated with golden globules. Large amethysts with open backs, of a beautiful deep purple hue. Small platinum and diamond accents pop against the gold and amethysts. Purple and yellow being complementary colors, they also show off to best advantage.
Loops that join the segments allow earrings to swing and sway as the wearer moves.
Wires are almost certainly replacements, which is the norm for earrings from this period. They are easy to insert and comfortable to wear.
Earrings are stunning. Very well made, rich and luxurious, full of movement. Versatile - can be worn with any outfit.

Marks and Metal: no marks as is to be expected. Gold was acid tested.
