Description :
This ring is all about the fantastic gem in its center. A large cabochon moonstone held with minimal gold prongs to show it off with least intrusion on the appearance of the stone. Resting on a gold mount with a linear, geometric design to the shoulders - very much in the taste of modern designers from Arts & Crafts through the Art Deco eras.
The ring is exceptional because of the quality of the moonstone. While seemingly almost transparent from some angles, it glows blue as the light catches it. See 'the story' below.
Marks and Metal:
Inside shank is marked 14k and G.
Condition:
Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
THE STORY:
When we learn about moonstones, we are repeatedly told to look for the unique blue glow or flash they display, called adularescence. This is only found in the highest quality moonstones. While moonstone jewelry became very popular from the 1890's, through the Art Deco era, it is rare to find a moonstone with this breathtaking quality. This moonstone shows the blue adularescence very clearly and very beautifully. As you move the ring and light catches the stone from different angles, you see the gleaming, glowing blue shades in an otherwise transparent gem. Exceptionally rare and eye-catching.
