Estate necklace. Diamond and spinel with 18k white gold settings. Made circa 1970-80's. Origin of spinel is Burma. GIA Certified.

Measurements: 1.00ct diamonds. 142.50 ct spinel. 17 inches long. Weighs 30.2 grams. Gold approximately 8.0 grams. Spinel beads range in size from 12.25 to 3.30mm.

This necklace was sold to me and appraised in 2012 as pigeon blood ruby. However, after I double checked with the GIA, we now know that the gems are spinel, also of great value and desirability. The GIA certifies that the stones origin and they show no signs of any form of treatment. We have 3 appraisals on the necklace - one reflecting the original belief that the stones are rubies; one, from the GIA indicating the actual nature of the stones and finally a general appraisal based on the stones being spinel. Gradated necklace with the largest bead in the front, center. Beads are faceted and possibly a lot older than the necklace. A number of spacers composed of 18k white gold, finely pave set with diamonds as is the globe clasp with tongue in groove catch.

One appraisal has the metal as 14k gold, the other as 18k. Acid testing is not an exact science, so there is room for a discrepancy. We will guarrantee at least 14k. Marks: there are no marks, but the gold was tested. The buyer will receive both the old ruby appraisal as well as the newer GIA certificate.

Condition: good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Independant appraisal for $34600.00 available to new owner upon request.
