VCA Van Cleef & Arpels Hawaii earrings. 18k yellow gold, pink sapphires and amethysts. Made in France. Van Cleef & Arpels' Hawaii design was made during the 1930 and 1960's. These earrings date to the 1960's. Comes with original VCA case.
Measurements: Weight is 12.3 grams. Diameter 2/3 inch (1.8cm).
Description : Striking, Flower form earrings in a VCA design know as Hawaii, perhaps because of the hot and intense color combination. The central dome is composed of round, pink sapphires held by gold prongs. 6 navette shaped petals radiate around the centre. They are deep purple amethysts. The exotic color combination of the pink, purple and gold mount richly deserving of the name Hawaii.
The lovely, clean workmanship at the back of the earrings is a real sign of truly luxurious jewelry. The makers took care with parts of the earrings that would never be seen and they are as beautifully finished as the fronts.
Backs with posts and hinged clips for security.
Comes in original VCA case in light green with VCA maker's mark logo in silver on the top of the box, black velvet inside embossed Van Cleef & Arpels.
Marks and Metal: Backs marked all over: back of earring where it joins hinge of clasp has eagle head and maker's mark. Eagle head indicates French 18k gold. Back of clip is marked OR on a white gold strip, also indicating gold. BL 75076 and VCA 750 on either side of the clip; inside the loop of the clip is another maker's mark lozenge and another mark, not quite clear - possibly eagle head. Posts have a pair of hallmarks.
Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
