Modern Earrings Ear Pendants. Diamonds, rubies, 18k yellow gold and silver. Made circa 1960's.

Length is a little over 1 1/2 inches (4cm). Weigh 7.9 grams. Diamonds approximately .66ct and rubies approximately .70ct    

Description:

Dual purpose, versatile design. 
For simple day wear, surmounts worn alone as diamond studs set in silver and with silver posts. 
Much larger, geometric designed drops in 18k yellow gold. Dangle drop earrings or ear pendants are threaded onto the post via a loop at the top of the drop / dangles.
An inverted 'V' diverging lines of diamonds lead from the diamond surmount, above the apex of the drop. 
Loops connect the diamond upper section to a trio of 3 textured yellow gold bars. These bars are arranged parallel to one another, in gradated lengths. They culminate in diamonds followed by pear-shaped cabochon red rubies. The diamonds and rubies are also attached via small loops, which allow them to move independently. Each gold bar is also connected by loops, so there is a potential for every detail to move, resulting in great, eye-catching appeal. Each section is fully movable and the earrings have great flexibility and swing and sway as the wearer moves. 
The dramatic and geometric forms of the component parts of the earrings, are like a kinetic sculpture. 
Additional contrast due to the different colored metals - white to offset the diamonds, yellow for warmth and red as a vital contrast.

The earrings look stunning when worn.

The earrings are very well made with the possible exception of the posts, which I find too soft. See condition below. 

Marks:

no marks were found. Metals were acid tested to ensure purity.  

Condition:

good with minor wear commensurate with age. As is the case with many vintage earrings, the posts are bent.  They are not loose, but I advise having a jeweller check them for security of future wear.   Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
