Lacloche vintage brooch. 18k yellow gold and rubies. Made circa 1940's in France.

 

Measurements: Weight is 7.0 grams. A little over 1 1/2 inches (4cm) tall.

 

Description : Great fun combined with great quality, this clip brooch is in the form of a toy duck on a wheeled board or skateboard, that could be pulled by a child. The stylised whimsical figure is made of 18k yellow gold, set with rubies as details and a ruby eye. Neck and legs in coiled gold as though allowing a child to bend and twist their toy.

 

Jacques Lacloche was the last of the Lacloche family who infused new life into the company after the crash of 1929. Known for their creative, brilliant, fine jewelry, Lacloche took over the workshops and remnants of both Edwin Streeter in the UK and Faberge in Russia and collaborated with artist craftsmen such as Rene Lalique and Verger. Famous for their superbly exclusive, quality jewelry, they sold to a clientel of royalty and stars.

 

Marks and Metal: Engraved under the board J. LACLOCHE PARIS - CANNES DEPOSE. Behind one wheel is the French eagle head mark for 18k gold and the lozenge with the maker's mark. Marks on 1 pin of the clip are not clear, but possibly eagle head marks.
