Antique George III sterling silver brandy warmer.

Made by John Emes, London, England 1801.

Weighs a whopping 551 grams.

A little over 5 1/2 inches to the top of the handle.

Body is 4 1/4 inches in diameter, excluding the spout.

Classic, understated elegance.

Round body with spout and long handle - conical silver extending from the side with matching fitted and turned wooden handle.

Detachable lid with hinged cover of spout and silver and wood finial.

Lid and body have matching crest: a bundle of feathers within an oval reserve with double border and buckle.

Engraved inside the double border is: THE GIFT OF RICH'D HILL JUN'R.

What a wonderful gift from RIchard Junior !!.

The patina of both silver and wood is supremely tactile.

Silver is almost buttery on the inside of the pot (which someone suggested might have been used also as a butter warmer for sauce).

Overall voluptious rich quality.

Well over 200 years old.

Hallmarked fully underneath as well as lion passant on inside of the flap of the spout on lid.

JE for maker John Emes surrounded by monarch's head (George III); leopard head crowned for London; date letter F for 1801; lion passant for sterling silver.

Very good condition.

Minute ding (pinprick size) lower bottom, mentioned only for the sake of total accuracy.
