Antique Art Nouveau Arts & Crafts earrings - very rare. 18k Gold and natural baroque pearls. Made in France circa 1895 - 1910 and signed by Du Mont.

Measurements: Length, not including wires is a little under 3cm (about 1 inches). Combined weight is 6.1 grams.

Description : Strong Art Nouveau / Arts & Crafts design. A pair of lotus or papyrus leaves, beautifully detailed and sculpted, fan around and embrace baroque pearls. The tendrils wrap around the pearls, overlapping one another as they each end in a fan-shaped, frilly leaf. The modelled detail is outstanding. Earrings are suspended from loops that allow them to swing and sway as the wearer moves. Wire backs are easy to insert and secure. Pearls have not been tested.

Earring made by the sculptor-jeweller DuMont and earrings from the Art Nouveau period are very rare. Amazingly, we have a very similar pair of earrings in silver, set with turquoise. Usually, the few pieces we see by DuMont are rings and brooches, but earrings are extremely scarce. Marks: French eagle marks indicating 18k gold and Maker's mark engraved with the Du worn but the Mont quite clear.

Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age/use. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
