Antique Vintage Cufflinks Gold Diamonds Enamel Mughal Indian unisex (6452)
Measurements: Approximately 3/4 inch square (2cm). Weigh 15.4 grams.
Description : Exquisite cufflinks in high carat gold, diamonds and superb enamel. The larger part of the link is a square with rounded corners. Arching up towards the center where a rose cut diamond is collette set in a square kundan mount. A very sturdy stalk at the back with a loop is connected to its counterpart via a series of gold links. The other part is an elongated navette shape, arching towards the center with a round collette setting holding a rose cut diamond. All surfaces of the cufflinks, both front and back are exquisitely enamelled in black. Lotus flowers and scrolls in an absolutely exquisite design done by superb craftsmen of the highest order. An outstanding item to add to a collection and dress up a gentleman's appearance.
During the first half of the 20th century, top jewelry companies such as Cartier were using Indian jewels both physically as well as for inspiration. This superb pair of cufflinks is quite unrivalled and a wonderful example of the best Mughal workmanship.
Marks: No marks as is to be expected. THe gold was acid tested to ensure purity. Stays for 22k.
