Chinese ring 14k Gold Jade Antique Vintage Arts Crafts Art Deco Ring (6522)

Antique / Vintage Arts and Crafts ring. 14k yellow gold and jade. Believed to be made circa 1920-30's. Possibly made by Edward Oakes in Chicago.

Measurements: US ring size 5.25. Bezel is 7/8 inch (21mm) long. Weighs 4.3 grams.

Description : Wonderful example of an Arts & Crafts ring of the Art Deco period. The simple, reeded gold band leads to shoulders and gallery of openwork gold design featuring foliage and flowers, flaring out from the shank and modelled with great detail. They support a gold mount that holds a carved jade in its center. Jade also with a floral design, but clearly, this ring is all about the mount, which is wonderful. It is very much in the style of Edward Oakes, but since he most often did not sign his work, it is not possible to claim him as the maker with any certainty.

Marks: 14k inside the bezel.
