Antique Victorian dangle earrings ear pendants. 14k gold, garnets and diamonds. Made circa 1840-80's in England, UK.

Measurements: Weight is 13.4 grams. Length 1 1/2 inches (4cm) not including the wires.

Description : Exceptional and unique pair of earrings. Convenient gold wires connect to a surmount, upper section, composed of a luscious pinky-purple/purply-pink garnet held in a gold collet with patterned edges.
The surmount connects via small gold loops to a line of diamonds that have totally independent movement and allow the globes at the bottom to swing and sway as the wearer moves. The movement catches a viewer's eye and causes light to reflect at different angles from the gems, adding to movement and interest.
The drops are utterly fabulous: Orbs composed of gold and garnets. The pink-purple color distinguishing Rhodolite garnets. These gems glow pink to deep purple, depending on how the light catches them. Very royal and distinguished by association with the purple color of high aristocracy in previous centuries and very fun as today's women sees pinks and purples.
Orbs have long been associated with sovereignty.
The garnets are beautifully offset by fine gold workmanship with collettes holding them, connected by an openwork lattice of tiny golden globules. The globes are composed of concentric rings of garnets, rounded and tapering at the terminals with concentric rings of gold at the bottom.
The orbs are fully in the round - unlike most early jewelry that was flat at the back.
Workmanship and design are exceptional.
Earrings combine subtle aristocratic symbolism with the fun and fashion of movement.

Marks and Metal: No marks, as is to be expected of jewelry from this period. Gold was electronically tested to ensure metal purity.

Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
