Antique Victorian earrings. 14k gold cannetille and seed pearls. Made in the Netherlands (Holland) circa 1860.
Measurements: Weight is 4.1 grams. 1 1/2 inches (just under 4cm) long, not including the wires.
Description : Oval shaped body of earrings with graduated gold fringe underneath. The main body of the earrings with an outer ring of cannetille - filigree gold wires worked in 3-dimentions to form little rosettes with golden granulation at their centers. A twisted gold border forms the inner ring of the oval cannetille work. Within is a raised half dome also decorated with a swirling design of cannetille, filigree and granulation. At the apex is a swirl of small seed pearls. Borders of twisted gold wirework.
Fringes are chains composed of multiple intertwined gold loops.
Wires are replacements, typical of Victorian earrings. Easy to insert and very comfortable to wear.
Marks and Metal: The small loops that connect the wires to the earrings are hallmarked. There is another, oval hallmark on the side, where it rises to the higher level in the center. Gold electronically tests at least 14k.
Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
