Antique Victorian Napoleon III bangle transformable to pendant and bangle. 18k yellow gold, silver, diamonds and natural pearls. Made in France second half of 19th century (1860 - 1880).

Measurements: Weight is 35.2 grams. Diameter is a total of 2 1/2 inches (6.5cm). A total of 8.47ct diamonds. Pearls certified as 5.5-7.5mm natural saltwater pearls with brilliant luster and white cream color. Length is not certified but we measured the longest as approximately 16mm.

Description : Magnificent bangle. Sturdy, hinged gold frame, approximately 6mm wide. The top is pave set with Old European cut diamonds, totalling 5.49ct. Diamonds are set in silver, the better to show them off in gas light. Encircling the bangle is a large extention, also finely set with Old European cut diamonds, totalling 2.98ct. 3 scrolling stems fan out from the bangle and encircle it. Again, the diamonds are set in silver over a gold ground. The back has two long hooks from which the ultimate bar drop is attached. This removable bar, set with diamonds has a fringe of graduated long oval pearls. It is extremely rare to find pearls of this size that are entirely natural (not cultured). French laboratory has certified the pearls. The bar with natural pearls can easily be removed from the bangle and worn seperately, as a pendant.

Materials, design and workmanship of this bangle make it a truly luxurious and rare piece of jewelry, suitable for the most royal occasions.

Marks and Metal: Marks on tongue of clasp include a pair of French eagle head marks (for Paris, 18k gold) and another mark that is not quite legible in the center (possibly boar's head for silver). Inside the bangle is also marked REVAUT, which appears to have been a very high end, luxury retailer at 15 Rue de la Paix, Paris, during the 19th century. At least one record was found dating them to 1860.

Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.

Both LFG certificate and independent appraisal are available to new owner upon request.
