Antique Victorian Bangle Bracelet Gold Garnets Diamonds (7043)
Antique Victorian bangle bracelet. 18k gold, carbuncle garnets, diamonds and a little silver. Made in France, circa 1830-60.
Measurements: Weight is 24.1 grams. Inner diameter 2 1/2 inches (6.25cm). Outer diameter 3 inches (7.5cm).
Description : Fabulous cabochon garnet bangle. 14 oval cabochons set in wide gold colettes. Garnets alternate with small diamonds, set in silver over gold, which was the traditional way diamonds were set to show them off to best effect in candle-light. Closed backs form one continuous surface. High quality and standard of workmanship. Very rich. Tongue and groove clasp in good working order and secure, are invisible when bangle is closed.
Marks and Metal: Tongue of clasp has 3 hallmarks: eagle head indicating 18k gold, made in France and 2 other marks, not quite legible (possibly maker's mark lozenge and mark for silver).
