Antique Edwardian - Belle Epoque ring. 18k gold, platinum, emeralds and diamonds. Made in France early 1900's (circa 1900 - 1914).
Measurements:
eight is 4.1 grams.  US size 6 1/4.
Description :
Gold band with simple parallel lines near the shoulders. A golden gallery slopes towards the finger and topped by a layer of platinum. The rounded oval ring of platinum is very finely pave set with rose-cut diamonds. Platinum with millegrained edges. At the furthest ends of the oval are a pair of Old European cut diamonds. Floating between these diamonds is a square gold colette mount set with a lovely emerald. The emerald is actually further secured by hidden 'spokes' radiating below the surface from the inner border of the diamond circle to the emerald's mount.
Combines delicate workmanship in minute detail  with a very strong design.
Excellent French quality workmanship and wonderful design, color and appearance. Versatile - the ring is suitable to wear for any occasion.
Marks and Metal:
French eagle head mark for 18k gold, made in Paris.  The white metal is too small for us to test, but it is almost certainly platinum. It is also too small to be hallmarked.

Condition:
Good with negligible wear commensurate with age.  Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
THE STORY:
The ring was sold to me as Victorian, circa 1890, but in my opinion, it is a decade later. The delicate of this ring and use of platinum places it in the very early 1900's - the Edwardian to Belle Epoque eras. Victorian jewelry was somewhat 'heavier' in design and manufacture. Either way, the ring is extremely beautiful and the lovely, bright emerald is sure to attract a lot of attention.
