Antique Georgian pair Dutch Delft plates blue white faience tin glazed (2887)

Antique Georgian pair of Dutch Delft faience tin glazed plates. Made in the Netherlands / Holland, early 19th century.

Measurements: Each plate measures 9 inches in diameter.

Description: Ceramic plates made of clay before the Dutch knew how to make porcelain. Each plate with blue and white handpainted decoration in concentric circles, the outermost circle in yellow ochre. Bowls of plates with jardinieres - trophy form goblets filled with an arrangement of flowers, fruit and foliage.  This is surrounded by concentric rings of blue and the gently sloping rims with rings of fruit and foliage and y-pattern, all in concentric rings to the outer edge of rim painted in rich yellow ochre.
Very strong design.  Blue and white color combination is extremely impactful.  

Condition: Fritting to rim - the worst part clearly shown in the 'photos.  The loss is to the enamel and not chips to the ceramic.  Otherwise very good condition, especially considering the age and delicate nature of the clay.
