Antique Georgian Necklace 18k Gold Garnets and Filigree (5131)

Antique Georgian necklace. 18k gold and garnets. Made early 19th century.  
Measures A little over 14 inches long; weighs 34 grams.  
Stunning choker necklace with dramatic contrast between bright gold mount and links with deep red, almost black, faceted garnets. The garnets are oval shaped and have simple facets on top of flat bases. Collette set in finely teethed mounts. Simple cut and setting are indicative of the very early age of this necklace. Linked via double loops on either side to a filigree gold bow. Matching clasp: a high garnet in a frilly oval, bright cut clasp.   
Like almost all Georgian jewellery, no hallmarks.  
Condition: Negligible natural wear commensurate with age.  1 worn garnet, shown magnified many times in 'photos. Otherwise good condition.
