Antique French Victorian Earrings Dangles 18k Gold and Garnets Napoleon 3 (7186)

Antique Victorian / Napoleon III dangle earrings. 18k gold and garnets. Made in France circa 1870-80's.

Measurements: Weight is 5.9 grams. 1 1/2 inches long (just under 4cm).

Description : Long and elegant. Comfortable to wear. Surmount consists of a narrow triangle of gold with mistletoe or other ivy foliage and berries in beautiful clear relief work. A line of gold chains connect the tops to the bottoms, allowing them to swing and sway as the wearer moves. The drops consist of an outer oval ring of repousse gold with the same raised relief in gold as the surmounts. Also connected with loops, allowing independent movement in addition to the swing described above, is a long, oval garnet. Rich red gems held in an openwork gallery mount of gold. Earrings are very easy to insert and comfortable to wear. Elegant look.

Marks and Metal: French eagle head marks on the wires indicate 18k gold.
