Antique Edwardian watercolour portrait miniature of a young girl by Oscar Wilson  F.R.M.S(1867 - 1930), President of the Royal Miniature Society in Great Britain. 
Framed. 

Measurements: Size of the actual painting is approx 4 1/2 X 5 1/8 inches. Frame is 13 X 14 1/4 inches.

Description: Painted en grisaille (with a limited palette), unusually in tones of red/pink and brown and with an exceptional tromp l'oeil frame. 
Comes in a large gold frame with salmon background. 
Fabulous quality art work as can be expected from the president of the Royal Miniature Society, who pulls out all the stops in this little work depicting a beautiful young lady in a ruffled cap with red ribbon, matching the bunch of geraniums at her neck. Please excuse white spots from flash - there is no damage/loss to the work.
The young girl depicted is wearing a cap that was typically worn by a parlour-maid. Exactly who she was, we do not know, but she was lovely enough, despite her 'lowly social status' to be painted by the top miniaturist of the day.
