Antique Earrings Georgian Victorian Ear Pendants Pearl Gold Wedding Bell (5890)
Antique Earrings Georgian Victorian Ear Pendants Pearl Gold Wedding Bell (5890)
Antique Georgian or early Victorian earrings ear pendants. High carat gold and seed pearls. Possibly made in Italy. Circa 1820-30's (on the border of late Georgian and early Victorian).
Measurements: not including the ear wires, the earrings are a little over 1 inch (28mm) long. Weigh 4.9grams.
Small loops suspend bell shaped earrings. Front of loop with twisted gold wire. The earrings consist of high carat gold and seed pearls, set in minute twisted wire, openwork cells - like a tight lattice. The clapper of the bell is a hollow round globe, made in the identical way to the upper portion. It is attached by a loop to a bar within the bell and thus able to swing freely as the wearer moves. This adds to the realistic appearance of the bell ear drops. The ear wires are replacements, as is usually the case with antique earrings, and are marked 14k.
Marks: none found. The gold is too delicate and fine to be acid tested, but we strongly believe it is high carat.
Condition: good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures for details and don't hesitate to ask questions - we will do our best to answer.
