Antique Cracker Barrel or Biscuit / Cookie Jar. Made by the Mt Washington Glass Company last quarter of the 19th century.

Approximately 6 inches to top of finial.

Melon shaped with alternating blue and white panels bordered in the crease with a gold stripe. The panels are decorated with enamel and gold jewels and beading as well as gold medallions found typically in Royal Flemish. Asymetric decoration of circles, groups of circles and reserves with raised jewels in gold or coloured enamels. Both front and back have marvelous gold medallions with raised figures: one side has a winged cherub seated on a delicate blossom branch. The other side depicts a cherub seated on the back of a dragon, amidst scrolling symbolic clouds. Workmanship and design are outstanding.

Metal / silverplate lid and tri-foil handle with a dark patina/discoloration developed over the years. See 'photos.

No marks found, typical of Royal Flemish.

Condition: no chips/cracks/damage to the glass. There is a spider-like crease underneath, clearly original to the manufacture. One or two enamel jewels missing.
