Antique Chinese Export Silver Box Humidor Wang Hing Dragon Bamboo Goldfish (5572))

Antique box / cigar trinket jewelry box. Chinese Silver. Made by Wang Hing (retailer) Canton and Hong Kong late 19th - early 20th century.  
The decoration is rich and typical of Wang Hing, who we believe was the biggest retailer of Chinese silver from the last quarter of the 19th century.  

Measurements:

4 1/4 inches (10.75cm) long; 3 inches (7.5cm) wide. Weighs 222.7grams.    

Description:

Rectangular box that useful as a humidor or jewelry / trinket box.  The entire upper surface and 4 sides are richly decorated with raised silver scenes. Around the sides, both bottom and lid, in a continuous frieze of wonderful bamboo plants with long, graceful foliage and branches bending in the wind grow amidst rocky outcrops. The top of the lid depicts curling Chinese dragons, goldfish and even a flaming heart amidst scrolling clouds. Engraved line demarks a smoothe silver outer border of top of the lid.
Lid is attached to bottom of box by a sturdy hinge. 

Marks:

the bottom (underneath) of the box is marked 90 and WH.  

Condition:

Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Very close inspection shows a minute ding on the upper left corner - mentioned for the sake of total accuracy.
