Antique Art Nouveau tie pin. 18k yellow gold and natural pearl.
Made in France by Paul Briancon, who was the foreman directing the jewelry workshop of Rene Lalique between 1885 and 1905. The design is called 'Fleur' or flower.

Measurements: weighs 1.2g and is  2 1/2 - 2 3/4 inches long.

Description: As its name implies, the tie pin is a naturalistically formed small gold flower with a little pearl in its center. Undulating petals, folding over near the top where a curved stem arches over the top of the flower on one size.
Twisting gold pin will hold the clothing securely.
The size is perfect for holding the tie, cravat or scarf in place and completing the attire. Understated look of total elegance.
Pearl has not been tested, but is almost certainly natural since this tie pin predates cultured pearls.

Marks: no marks were found which is not typical of French jewelry. Gold was acid tested to ensure metal purity.

Condition: Generally good with minor wear commensurate with age and use. Please see enlarged pictures and feel free to ask questions, which we will do our best to answer.

THE STORY: This tie pin came from a collection of jewelry that included a number of wonderful works by Paul Briancon, who was the foreman of Rene Lalique's workshop. It was he who was in charge of the actual production of Lalique jewelry. The fact that this tie pin is not signed, hints that it was made for his personal interest and use.
