Vintage South African sterl...

Vintage sugar serving spoon or teaspoon. Sterling silver. Made in South Africa - approximately mid 1900's. 

Measurements:

5 3/4" long.  Approximately 35.5grams. 

Description:

Very rare unusual sterling silver spoon, made in South Africa. Has sculpted openwork model of The Castle, built by Jan Van Riebeeck in Cape Town after his arrival in 1652.   Generous, wide bowl, unadorned to show quality of the silver. Sturdy handle, again, tapering slightly towards the back.  The terminal consists of a sculpted model depicting the famous and easily recognised entrance to The Castle. 

Marks and Metal:

The back is hallmarked as follows: CM; S925; STG; springbok head; F.
