Lucien Falize Antique Victo...

Antique Napoleon III Victorian ring. 18k gold, silver, emerald and diamonds. Made in France, circa 1880 by Lucien Falize.

 

Measurements: Weight is 6.95 grams.Bezel is a little under 1 inch (23mm) long. Ring is US size 8.5 .

 

Description : Renaissance Revival ring. Oval bezel with a raised central emerald in a gold colette setting with saw-tooth edge and a lower border of rope-twist filigree gold. On either side an arc of rose-cut diamonds is set in silver. The border is a ring of flowers composed of rope-twist filigree petals and a golden globule in the center. Filigree work is continued in scrolls around the bridge that raises the ring above the level of the finger, allowing light to enter the emerald from behind. Shoulders with silver foliage supports, set with tiny rose cut diamonds. Shank with ridges on either side.

 

According to the French specialist who sold us this ring, it is similar to a necklace, page 69 in the book The Master Jewellers edited by Kenneth Snowman.

 

Marks and Metal: French hallmarks on the outside of the bezel include the maker's mark/punch.
