Measurements:

Description :
Created in 1919 by Rene Lalique, this is one of his most beautiful and elegant designs. Cignognes in French are Storks and in classic Art Nouveau taste, three birds are swooping and flying; overlapping, curving, with outspread wings and elegant necks and long beaks. The shape of the pendant is a T with an arch in the center of the upper bar.
This rare model was only made in clear glass. It appears in Marcilhac, page 574 and is number 1635. (Felix Marcilhac compiled the catalogue of Rene Lalique's creations). It was discontinued in the 1940's. It is rare to find this model, especially in such good, wearable condition.
Usually, Rene Lalique pendants are attached to colorful silk cords that match the color of the glass. We do not know whether this long gold chain is original or was set in the pendant, but we believe it has been there for a very long time. Clearly, the way the gold chain is set into the glass makes it very secure. It looks integral to the necklace and will last a lot longer than a silk cord, most of which have decayed or frayed over the last century.
Marks and Metal:
The side of the pendant is embossed R. LALIQUE. The gold chain is not marked. We had the chain tested with sophisticated equipment and it appears to be 8.3k with a high percentage of copper, giving it a lovely color.
Condition:
Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
