Nouveau negligee pendant necklace diamond peridot pearl gold silver plat (7406)

Antique Art Nouveau (late Victorian to early Edwardian) negligee necklace. 14k gold, silver, platinum, diamonds, peridot and pearls. Made in England, Great Britain, circa 1895 - 1905. Comes in fitted box. Independent appraisal.

Measurements: Weight is 10.2 grams. Length with chain doubled is 10 1/4 inches (26.5 cm). Length of chain is 15 1/2 (39.5cm).
Length of drop is a tad under 2 1/2 inches.

Description : Negligee necklaces consist of parallel pendants of different lengths, forming an assymetrical drop under a swooshing Art Nouveau, overlapping looping support. The pendant from top to bottom consists of a flower surmount. The center of the flower is a round pearl with small diamonds at the cardinal points. Chains with diamond stations fork from the surmount and suspend the main body of the pendant. This consists of overlapping, looping swishes of diamonds with a large, round, cushiony peridot at its center. Like ribbons in a knotted bow, the drops are composed of lines of pave set diamonds, each with a pear-shaped peridot briolette at the end. Extremities are set with slightly larger round diamonds.
Peridot are a wonderful bright, light green, like the color of spring.
Like most Victorian and earlier jewelry, diamonds are set in silver in order to show them off to best advantage. Other gems were set in gold. Back of mount is gold. Long, thin, oval links alternating with small round links form the chain, which is platinum. The spring loop clasp, presumably later is silver.
Comes in horse-shoe-shaped fitted box of gold embossed blue leather with silk upper and velvet lower linings. Hinge and clasp of box in good, working condition.

Marks and Metal: The only mark is the Sterling mark on the spring clasp. The other metals were electronically tested as 14k gold, platinum and silver.
