Antique Edwardian Pendant Platinum Gold Diamonds Pearls Europe Bridal (7194)
$5,750.00

Availability:
1 left in stock
Antique pendant. Made circa 1900 - 1910 Edwardin Belle Epoque era. Platinum, 18k gold, diamonds, pearls. Bought in Hungary and with later Hungarian hallmarks (see below), but quality of work hints at England, France or Russia.
Independent appraisal and certificate.
Measurements: Weight is 9.1 grams. Length, including the bale is approximately 2 1/2 inches (6.5cm). 1.64ct diamonds.
Description : Elegant pendant personifies the superb design and workmanship of the first decade of the 20th century - Edwardian / Belle Epoque period. Platinum topped to show diamonds off to best effect, the back is 18k gold. The use of platinum allowed the delicate, lacy workmanship in which gems appear to float in the air. Pear shaped pendant with a line of small pearls running down from the apex to the widest point, where they are met with colette set diamonds in filigree platinum mounts. The lower half of the pendant is a semi-circle with 3 branching arms of oval shapes, like foliage from a central flower. Knife-edged platinum lines, curves and ribbons suspend diamonds and pearls at varying heights, with small foliate detail inside the patterns within patterns. Subtlely complex, yet light and delicate with the fine workmanship resulting in a feast for the eyes as the gems seem to be suspended in mid air.
Matching large bale, also set with diamonds.
Highest quality workmanship and design. It's easy to envisage this pendant as a royal jewel. Today, it would be perfect for a party or worn by a bride to her wedding.
Marks and Metal: Hungarian hallmarks make it clear that the pendant was an import and made elsewhere. Twice marked on bale with co-joined letters (KA) and eagle, used to indicate import between 1937-1966. Clearly, the pendant was made well before this period and these are simply the later assay marks. (page 133 World Halmarks Volume I.) No other marks were found. Quality of work looks like French or Russian, but there are no hallmarks to verify this. Possibly English.
Electronically tested with Auracle AGT3: 18k gold and platinum.
Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
Certificate of appraisal available to new owner.
