Antique Art Nouveau necklace. Silver and natural pearls. Made in Paris, France circa 1900 by Pierre DuMont.
Measurements:
Weight is 11.5 grams. Length approximately 16 1/2 inches (42cm).
Description :
Classic Art Nouveau  and classic DuMont necklace. Paper-clip shaped silver links, popular during this period connect in front with 3 stations or sections. Each of these sections is composed of a pair of gynko or waterlily leaves folded and coiling around one another and an oval, baroque shaped natural pearl.
The leaves are modelled very naturalistically, as though either floating in water or billowing in the wind and their moving shape hold the pearls in place, very cleverly. The stems form an openwork, overlapping, twining structure that surround the pearls.
This is a rare example of genuine Art Nouveau jewelry, incorporating the design and aesthetic of the period and style.
The design of these leaves and pearls is very typical of DuMont and can be regarded as a signature of the jeweller.  In this case, the pearls are bigger than many other jewels of this maker and they have an especially lovely lustre.
Marks and Metal:
A pair of French hallmarks on the middle section - one is the boar's head used in Paris 1838-1962 for 800 silver and the other, not quite clearly identified. the right section with DuMont signature (the first two letters are worn, but clearly there).

Condition:
Good with negligible wear commensurate with age.  Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
