Antique vintage diamond necklace 18.76ct rose cut diamonds India (7246)

Antique vintage necklace. Diamonds set in silver. Made in India. Exact age is not possible to determine, but possibly 1960's using older stones (see below). Independent appraisal.

 

Measurements:

Weight is 43.0 grams. Not including the chain or drop, length is approximately 12 inches (30.5cm). Drop is 2 inches long (5cm). 

Description :

Necklace composed of rose cut diamonds. It is likely that most of these glittering and gleaming diamonds were originally part of a much earlier jewel (from the Victorian / Georgian periods) and then re-set, as was common during the early to mid 20th century. Diamonds are closed at the back.
Floral design was popular in both the West and in India and is as attractive and wearable today as it was centuries ago.

The necklace consists of alternating flowers in full bloom and in bud, each section joined by little loops, allowing flexibility and a good fit around the neck. Small links joining sections appear to be gold, but too small and set to close to silver to test.
Each station of full bloom with a central diamond, slightly raised above the smaller diamonds that form petals around it. A central pendant drop consists of a larger version of the full-bloom flowers with a large diamond in its center, linked to a pear-shaped drop and finally a smaller round drop. The triangular diamond in the center is the largest of the gems.

Chain added for convenience, allows wearer to make necklace longer or shorter as the hook can be linked to any of the loops on the opposite side.
