Vintage long double Necklace Pearls Onyx Mother of Pearl Flower Statement (5878)

Vintage long double sautoir necklace with an enormous flower. Made of genuine cultured pearls, onyx and mother of pearl. Made 20th century.

Measurements:

 Length is approximately 37.5inches (95cm), the onyx slightly longer than the pearls so that they hang correctly. The flower is approximately 3 3/4 inches (10cm) wide. Pearls are about 8mm in diameter.

Description:   

This necklace makes a very strong statement. Black and white: the ultimate fashion colors and contrasts. Rich onyx, faceted beads in a long chain and alongside, white cultured pearls. In addition, there is a huge flower made of mother of pearl petals joined together at the back by silver wire. The center is pretty carved and engraved mother of pearl, set with 5 slightly baroque smaller pearls. Each of the latter with a dark globule set in it as an additional feature and contrast. The necklace can be worn as is, or, you could have your jeweller remove the flower and turn it into a brooch/pendant and wear the pearls and/or onyx in a more conventional fashion. 
Versatile, always in fashion.
