Antique Georgian French Ear...

Antique late Georgian - early Victorian French earrings / long ear pendants. 18k gold, enamel, pearls and emeralds. Made circa 1830 in France during the reign of Charles X or Louis Philippe corresponding to the late Georgian or early Victorian periods.

Measurements: length, not including the wires, is a little over 1 3/4 inches (about 44mm). Combined weight is 9.2 grams.

Description: Long earrings.  Body similar to an hourglass in shape. The black enamel ground is surrounded by gold borders and gold repousse work. It is set both above and below the 'waist' with flowers composed of pearls and tiny emeralds. The larger flower on the bottom. Gold repousse work and the relative lightness of these earrings considering their length is typical of the period circa 1830. They are stunning to look at and because of their light weight, comfortable to wear.  Elegant and refined - versatile black goes with anything and everything.

Marks: the earrings have French hallmarks on the wires and amidst the repousse work. The eagle head indicates 18k gold in France.

Condition: very good especially considering their age. Very minor wear commensurate with age.  Please see enlarged 'photos and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
