Pair Antique French Limoges...

Antique miniature paintings enamel on copper plaques.  Made in Limoges France 18th century.

Measurements: frames are just under 5 3/4 inches long (14.5cm) X4 5/8 inches (12cm) wide.
copper plaques site measurements:2 3/4 inches (7cm) X 2 1/4 inches (just under 6cm) wide.

Enamel plaques come in simple old ebonised wood frames. May / not be original to the plaques. Frames are interesting for their construction at the back with oval applied rings holding the plaques in place.

Plaques are miniature portraits and vignettes of pastoral life in France during the 1700's.

The 2nd plaque shows a similair vignette

No signature or marks found. We have not taken them out of their frames.

Condition: generally very good condition considering their age and delicate nature of enamel on copper. There are some age cracks to the enamel, shown clearly in the magnified photos, but they do not impinge on the quality of the plaques.
