Antique Victorian Earrings ...

Antique Victorian earrings. 18k gold, natural turquoise, diamonds and silver. Made in France circa 1890-1900.

 

Measurements: Diameter of earrings is approximately 12mm (a tad under 1/2 inch). Weight is 3.7 grams.

 

Description : A delightful, small pair of earrings. Natural cabochon turquoise forms the center of a pair of flowers, the petals are made of diamonds. Flowers suspended from tiny diamond surmounts in a floral-shaped colette mount. As is almost always the case with Victorian jewelry, The main metal is gold with the diamonds set in a layer of silver above the gold. Sturdy, hinged lever findings are easy to insert, comfortable and secure to wear.

 

Antique flower-formed turquoise earrings have become very difficult to find. They are a great look, as complementary today as they were well over a century ago. This small pair is classic, understated elegance.

 

Marks: French eagle mark near join of front and back of earrings. Gold was also acid tested to ensure metal purity.
