Outstanding and rare cut, acid etched and enameled glass tumbler.
Made 19th century.
Believed to be French.
5 1/8inches high.
Tumbler is cut in regular geometric pattern with elongated facets in a band around the bottom, narrow part of the glass.
Upper rim is gilded.
The main decoration consists of a deeply etched, enameled and gilded pattern.
Cobalt blue with some burgundy / red enamel and lots of gilding.
The central theme is pairs of mirror-image gryphons / swans separated by scrolling foliage.
The quality of this work is without parallel.
Condition is very good except for negligible wear to gilding on rim.
