Antique Victorian earrings. 14 carat yellow gold, seed pearls and ruby-colored paste. Made circa 1860.
Measurements:
Long earrings with a much bigger look than their actual weight, making them comfortable to wear but significant looking. Inverted V's suspended from loops allow for greatest swing as the wearer moves. Support a rounded oval base with a ring of stippled gold globes enclosing an oval frame of tiny seed pearls, within which is a ruby-red faceted paste (imitation gem). A trio of kite-shapes dangle from the bottom of each earring - adding twinkle and movement. Replaced wires.
Like most Victorian jewelry, no hallmarks, but tested as 14k.
good with minor wear commensurate with age.
