Antique Giardinetti brooch Diamonds Rubies Emeralds 18k Gold Silver (7224)
$3,999.00
/
Antique Victorian giardinetti brooch. 18k gold, silver, diamonds, rubies and emeralds. Made late 19th century, France.
Unisex - suitable for a man or a woman. Independent appraisal.
Measurements: Weight is 6.0 grams. 1.26ct rubies and emeralds; 0.71ct diamonds. Please see independent appraisal for details.
Description : Designed as a basket or vase of flowers. Baskets or vases of flowers were very popular themes in jewelry at that time and are known as giardinetti jewelry.
As was the custome during the Victorian era, diamonds are set in silver and colored stones in yellow gold.
A basket/vase of flowers composed of alternating lines of diamonds and rope-twist raised borders of yellow gold. Flowers and foliage with 3 deep red rubies and 3 smaller round emeralds, all set in yellow gold forming the centers of the flowers. Petals and foliage surrounding them are entirely set with diamonds. Classic, understated and smart. Will look good going to work, to a party or any function where you want to subtly stand out from the crowd.
Very well made, very wearable. Suitable for a man or a woman, young or old.
Marks and Metal: The c of the clasp has two hallmarks, one of which also appears to be the owl. (The owl was a French mark denoting 18k gold). Partial French hallmark on the pin, appears to be the owl mark for 18k gold.
Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Front in very good shape; pin at back is bent from use but still serviceable. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
Default Title - $3,999.00 USD
