Antique Victorian Ring Natural Opal and Diamonds 18k Gold Silver (7192)
$5,000.00
/
Availability:
1 left in stock
Antique Victorian ring. 18k gold, silver, diamonds and natural opal. Possibly English. circa 1880.
Independent appraisal and certificate.
Measurements: Weight is 7.3 grams. Oval opal measures 15mm X 9.9mm. Total length of bezel (top of ring) is 21mm. US size 6 3/4. 1.86ct diamonds; 3.80ct opal.
Description : Beautiful large natural opal, mined in Australia during the 1800's. Colors of opal are tones of blue, green, purple and oranges depending on how the light catches it. Fabulous gleam and glint as the wearer moves. Rich, velvety appearance. Opals of this quality are seldom found. The opal is prong set - the small prongs are barely visible as the opal rises above a circle of very nice Old Mine Cut diamonds, set in silver, as was the custom during the Victorian era. Diamonds are nicely matched and beautifully set and show off the opal with it's gleaming tones, to great effect. The quality of the ring continues at the shoulders. Scrolling, scalloped forked branches of silver, encasing diamonds, with a third elongated pear-shape, similarly diamond-set. Overlapping, scrolling design continues along the sides and is met by a gold, ridged band to complete the shank.
Looks fabulous on the finger. Intrigueing play of colors that constantly change depending on the light and angle. As wearable today as it was almost 150 years ago.
Marks and Metal: No marks were found. Gold was electronically tested as 18k.
Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
Independent appraisal available to new owner upon request.
