Antique Victorian earrings bangle jewelry set gold turquoise garnet pearl (7289)

Antique Victorian earrings and bangle/bracelet jewelry set. Gold, turquoise, garnets and small pearls. Made circa 1860.

Measurements: Weight is 31.3 grams. Bracelet 20.3grams; earrings 11.0 grams. Diameter of bangle at widest part is 2 1/4 inches (6cm). Earrings 7/8 inches (2.25cm).

Description : Half-domes, pave set with cabochon turquoise. The centers with a rectangular, deep red, garnet surrounded by a border of small pearls. A very classic design. The hemispheres are mounted on gold. The bangle has engraved sides and the 3 half-domes are connected via rigid openwork gold links. Fine, foliate engraving. A tongue-in-groove clasp with a safety catch.
The 3 domes of the bangle are gradated in size with the largest in the middle and those flanking it smaller. The earrings are actually slightly oval in shape and larger than the domes of the bangle, but identical in design. The wires go from back to front of the ear-lobe, as was the custom during the 19th century and earlier. To a large extent, the design of these wires is reminiscent of poissarde earrings, popular in France at that time.

Marks and Metal: No marks were found. We tested the gold multiple times with both acid and sophisticated electronic equipment and the results were very confused: parts such as the wires/findings of the earrings tested 14k, as did the area near the clasp of the bangle. The rest tested 10k.  

Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. As can be seen in the pictures, the turquoise is varied in color from bright blue to fairly deep green.
