Antique Earrings Belle Epoque Diamonds Gold Platinum Dangle Ear Pendants (7164)

Antique, Belle Epoque earrings. Diamonds, 18k yellow gold and Platinum. Made in Spain, early 20th century circa 1915. Measurements: Weight is 7.0 grams. Length is a little over 1 1/2 inches (4.2cm). Central rose-cut diamond approximately .20ct. Description : Long, dangle drop earrings. Surmounts consist of a line of round diamonds, collet-set in platinum and connected by a sturdy ribbon of gold. A loop connects the bottom of this row to the drop, allowing it to swing and sway as the wearer moves. Drop begins as a point at the apex and then widens to fall a generous, curving pear or tear shape, with curving, undulating edges. The bottom part, which is almost a full circle, consists of an outer ring of round diamonds, collet-set in platinum with filigree top and small, almost invisible platinum granulation between parts. This was a very difficult technical feat for the jeweller and shows what care was taken to make these earrings. Within, is an openwork star of filigree platinum, enclosing a larger, round diamond. Diamonds are all rose-cuts. The overall look is like lace. Light and airy. Perfect for wearing to a ball, wedding, for a bride or even with your jeans. The neutrality of the colors make these earrings very versatile. Sturdy backs are yellow gold, as is ribbon connecting surmount diamonds. The post at the back is held securely by a loop clasp. Top, all platinum, as was the custom at the time. Backs are lovely and show the high quality of the workmanship. Marks and Metal: No marks, but metal was electronically tested as 18 yellow gold at the back and platinum on top. Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age.
