$15,000.00
/
Availability:
1 left in stock
Antique late Victorian ring. 18k gold, diamonds and tourmaline. Made in Paris, France circa 1900 by CHAUMET. Measurements: US size 6. Weight is 4.9 grams. 1.95ct diamonds of E-F color and VVS clariy. Tourmaline 3.89ct. The length of the bezel is very slightly more than the width ie 3/4 inch (17mm); The width of the bezel is 5/8 inch (16mm). Description : Superb signed Chaumet Paris ring. An openwork gallery lifts the fine gems above the level of the finger and allows light to enter from behind, thus adding to the sparkle and shine. A rounded rectangle of gold with inner border of beautiful Old Mine Cut diamonds. Some diamonds are slightly rounder and some more square in shape, as befits antique jewelry. Gold claws hold aloft a lovely cushion shaped tourmaline in unrivalled, twinkling green. Great contrast of tones as part in the shadows are deeper, and other facets flashing as the ring or light moves. Absolutely beautiful and highly wearable. The elite jewelry maker Chaumet has existed in Paris for over 200 years (going by the original name of it's founder, Nitot to begin with). They were court jewellers to Bourbon kings (King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette) and both Napoleon I and the III. Chaumet still exists today and is still creating jewelry for the world's elite, wealthiest connoisseurs and arbiters of fine taste. Marks: The hoop is signed inside CHAUMET PARIS and like most antique French rings, outside with the French eagle head indicating 18k gold and the maker's mark in a lozenge. Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer. > Ring was sold to us as a peridot, but our professional appraiser says that surprisingly, it tests as tourmaline. It looks the color of peridot. Independent appraisal available to new owner upon request.
