Vintage South African Sterling Silver sugar tea spoon Rugby football player (787)

Vintage Teaspoon or sugar spoon. Possibly a souvenir spoon from South Africa.  Sterling silver.  Made in South Africa, depicting a rugby or football player. Believed to date to before 1950. 

Measurements:  5" long.  Approximately 15grams. 

Exceptional little spoon with ornate decorated handle ending in a fantastic figure of a rugby or football player running with the ball under his arm. Great details down to the spokes on his sports shoes, folds of his shorts and early 20th century hair style.  Each finger is individually depicted.  

Scrolling, floral, foliate and beaded modelling behind bowl and on handle. 

The back of the bowl is marked SILV.
