Vintage Retro Ring 18k gold platinum sapphire diamonds French signed 1940's(7317)
$4,500.00
/
Vintage Retro ring. 18k yellow gold, platinum, sapphire and diamonds. Made in France circa 1940-50 by Chevrier, Huot & Didelot.
Measurements: Weight is 10.6 grams. US size 6.25 (French 52.5). Sapphire approximately 2.65 carats (9.73X7.15X3.78mm); diamonds 0.31ct, H color.
Description : Strong, Retro geometric design. The bezel is quite large with clearly defined patterns. 3 concentric cylindrical tubes of gold, forming graduated and rising rectangles, form the base of the bezel. In the center, is a beautiful blue, rectangular sapphire, held in gold at the corners. The color of the sapphire is a deep cornflower blue. The sapphire really glints and gleams and sinks to velvety shadows, depending on the way the light catches it.
On either side of the sapphire is a round diamond with old single cut diamonds set within platinum foliate mounts leading down the sides/shoulders towards the shank. The gold forked shank comes together towards the back.
The ring is quite stunning in design, both in its geometric shapes and in the contrast of the colors - bright gold, blue and 'white' of the diamonds. Very well made - a great example of the superiority of French workmanship.
Highly wearable by day or night.
Marks and Metal: Hallmarked on outside of the shank, which is typical of the French system. Eagle head and mascoron for gold and silver are quite worn, but eagle is visible; Maker's mark lozenge with some parts legible including the H, for Chevrier, Huot & Didelot.
Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. There is a long internal feather within the sapphire, which you can clearly see in the pictures, but it does not detract from the richness of the pretty color. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
Default Title - $4,500.00 USD
